Price transparency

What is disclosed before intake, not a clinical rating.

Hello Alpha’s $79 monthly weight-loss membership buys online care, not an included supply of GLP-1 medication. Its program centers on appointment-free visits, provider messaging and prescriptions for branded medication when appropriate. It is most useful if you want ongoing medical support and can separately establish drug coverage or a workable cash price; an insurance denial does not automatically make the membership refundable.

The verdict

Hello Alpha shows its price before the medical intake, but leaves gaps, such as what the advertised price includes or which pharmacy fills the prescription. It ranks 140 of 293 on price transparency.

The score beside Hello Alpha's name rates how much it tells you before the medical intake — the price, the pharmacy and the terms — not how cheap it is.

What do you get with Hello Alpha?

  • Alpha Plus+ membership with online medical visits and ongoing provider messaging
  • An appointment-free questionnaire and messaging route, with synchronous communication when needed or required
  • Prescribing options including Wegovy, Ozempic, Zepbound and Mounjaro when clinically appropriate
  • Medication shipping or a prescription sent to your chosen local pharmacy; drug cost is separate
  • A broader care platform that includes other health conditions, rather than a medication-only transaction

How does Hello Alpha work?

  1. Confirm the correct membership

The weight-loss page directs patients to Alpha Plus+. Check that the plan shown in your account includes weight-management visits and ask about visit allowances. The lower-priced basic plan should not be assumed to cover the same services. You must be an adult and physically located in a state where the relevant provider can treat you.

  2. Submit the online visit

Complete health history and describe your goals, previous treatments and current medications. The platform generally supports asynchronous visits, so you do not need a scheduled video appointment for every interaction. The terms allow live communication depending on state and condition. Keep the visit thread available for follow-up questions and any additional information the provider requests.

  3. Resolve medication access separately

Ask your health plan which drug and indication it covers, whether prior authorization is required and which pharmacy to use. Hello Alpha identifies limits on prior-authorization assistance for diabetes medicines used for weight loss without type 2 diabetes. Confirm a usable drug price before assuming that paying the care membership will make treatment affordable.

  4. Manage care and prescription renewals

Use your account and provider messages for follow-up. Membership cancellation and medication refill cancellation are separate actions. The terms specify a five-day lead time before the next scheduled membership charge; ask the care team to stop any unwanted automatic prescription orders as well. Save the cancellation email rather than relying on the absence of a new visit.

Tirzepatide

Branded tirzepatide medication extra; care membership $79/mo; ongoing month-to-month total not established.

Where it operates

Company advertises limited or treatment-dependent access: Adults physically in supported US states; state law and provider availability apply; verify current location before payment.

The advertised weight-loss membership is $79 per month. Prescription medication and applicable outside laboratory charges are additional. Hello Alpha does not accept insurance for membership or clinical fees, while some pharmacies can bill eligible medication benefits. There is no defensible universal semaglutide or tirzepatide total because product choice, coverage, dose and dispensing route affect what you pay.

  • The membership is billed month to month and renews automatically. The legal terms require cancellation at least five days before the next scheduled charge, even though general membership copy says you can request cancellation anytime.
  • Cancel through Account, then Plan and Payment, then Plan Details. Benefits continue to the end of the current paid period; amounts already paid are generally nonrefundable.
  • Canceling the membership does not stop automatic prescription refills. Contact the care team through the platform separately to cancel medication orders. Prescriptions processed for shipping cannot be returned or exchanged under the stated policy.
  • An insurer’s prior-authorization denial, or inability to process a request because eligibility requirements are unmet, does not qualify the Alpha Plus+ fee for a refund. Establish your likely coverage before paying when affordability depends on insurance.
  • The weight-loss page says Medicare, Medicaid and other government-funded plans cannot be used for prescriptions written by an Alpha provider. Ask about the permitted cash route if that describes your coverage.
  • The terms distinguish the technology company from the treating medical practice and contain liability exclusions, with a fallback cap based on service fees paid in the preceding twelve months where exclusions are unenforceable. Those provisions remain subject to applicable law.

A good fit if

  • Adults wanting a messaging-based relationship for weight care and other covered health conditions
  • People with a clear branded-medication pharmacy benefit or an affordable separate cash option
  • Patients who can keep track of both membership and medication refill arrangements

What are Hello Alpha's pros and cons?

Pros

  • The distinction between membership and drug spending is explicitly stated
  • Appointment-free visits may fit around work and family schedules
  • Branded medication and local-pharmacy routes allow a different comparison from compounded bundles

Cons

  • Care fees continue even when no visit is submitted during a paid month
  • Drug coverage and authorization can remain unresolved after membership payment
  • Stopping the plan does not automatically stop medication refills

The pharmacy behind the medicine

It does not name its pharmacy. Hello Alpha does not publicly disclose which compounding pharmacy fills its prescriptions. That is common and it is not an accusation — but it does mean the one thing you would most want to verify about a compounded medicine is the one thing you cannot.

A compounded drug is mixed to order by a pharmacy rather than manufactured and released as a finished product, so the FDA has not reviewed the specific preparation you are prescribed for safety, effectiveness or quality. That is true of every compounded program, including the highest-scoring ones.

What else do people ask about Hello Alpha?

Is GLP-1 medication included in $79?

No. The price is for the care membership. The terms expressly put prescription costs in addition to consultation or plan fees, and outside testing can also cost extra. Request the specific medication’s pharmacy price and add it to the recurring care charge.

Does Hello Alpha prescribe compounded GLP-1s?

The program’s public weight-loss menu emphasizes branded prescriptions such as Wegovy, Ozempic, Zepbound and Mounjaro. Do not treat a branded drug as interchangeable with a compounded preparation or assume a compounded bundle price describes this membership.

Will an insurance denial get my fee refunded?

The weight-loss page says a denied prior authorization, or inability to process one because requirements are unmet, does not qualify for a refund of Alpha Plus+. Coverage questions are worth resolving before enrollment if the medication would otherwise exceed your budget.

When should I cancel membership?

The automatic-renewal terms say at least five days before the next scheduled charge. Use the account’s Plan and Payment settings and retain the confirmation email. You can generally continue using paid benefits through the current billing period; charged membership fees are nonrefundable.

Does membership cancellation stop medication deliveries?

No. The terms explicitly require contacting the care team separately to cancel upcoming or automatic prescription refills. A prescription may continue refilling and charging through its authorized refill period if you only cancel the membership. Confirm both actions when leaving treatment.

Is this service only for women?

Hello Alpha says its providers specialize in women’s health and sex differences but can also treat men and people assigned male at birth for most conditions. Weight-loss services are for adults, subject to state law and the provider’s clinical assessment.
