How we keep the lights on
Affiliate & advertising disclosure
Good food science takes hours to read, fact-check, and write. Here is exactly how that work gets paid for — and exactly where the money touches what you see on the page.
Some links here earn us a commission. A number of the outbound links on Gut Metabolic are affiliate links. If you click one and go on to buy something, we may receive a commission from the merchant. That commission is what funds the reading, fact-checking, and writing behind the magazine.
It costs you nothing extra. An affiliate link never changes the price you pay or the deal you get. You pay the same as you would by navigating there directly; the merchant simply shares a small slice of the sale with us for the referral.
Affiliate partners are listed first. We say so on the page, not just here. The probiotic ranking on /best-metabolic-probiotic opens with the products we are paid to refer. The brands we earn nothing from follow them, in our editorial order. We think our top pick earns that slot on price transparency, formulation and no-prescription access — the write-up beside it lays out the reasoning, and its trade-offs, so you can disagree with us on the evidence rather than take our word for it.
Where else money touches the page. The separate list of GLP-1 medication alternatives — the telehealth services we surface for readers who want a drug rather than a supplement — is drawn entirely from programs we earn from. It is not a survey of the market, and we do not present it as one. The cons printed under each of those entries are the same cons we would print if nobody paid us: they dispense compounded medication, not FDA-approved branded Wegovy or Zepbound, and we say so on every card. Read those positions as commercial ones and judge them on the evidence printed beside them. Our reasoning is laid out in our editorial policy.
The relationships come in a few forms. Most often it is a standard affiliate or referral arrangement with a retailer or telehealth provider, paid per click-through purchase. Many of the brands we write about pay us nothing at all — they still get a full write-up and the same outbound button as our partner, because a comparison that only links to the sponsor is not a comparison.
Ask us anything about how this works. If you ever want to know whether a specific link is monetized, or how a particular ranking was reached, email info@gutmetabolic.com and we will tell you plainly.
