Price transparency
What is disclosed before intake, not a clinical rating.
MD Live can prescribe weight-management medicines such as Wegovy and Zepbound through a Primary Care Routine Care visit when clinically appropriate. This is a benefit-dependent primary-care service, not an open cash-price medication subscription, and it is unavailable for anti-obesity prescribing in Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi and New Jersey. Check that your plan includes Routine Care before booking another type of visit for a GLP-1 prescription.
MD Live does not pay us. We review it so you can compare it with the programs that do. Disclosure
MD Live publishes its price before the medical intake — you can see what it costs without handing over your health history first.

The verdict
MD Live shows a price before the medical intake, but the advertised figure comes with conditions the headline leaves out, or its own terms don't fully back it up. It ranks 265 of 293 on price transparency.
The score beside MD Live's name rates how much it tells you before the medical intake — the price, the pharmacy and the terms — not how cheap it is.

What do you get with MD Live?
- A scheduled Routine Care visit with a primary-care physician for ongoing health concerns and chronic-condition management when the service is included in your benefit.
- Potential prescribing of anti-obesity medication, including named Wegovy and Zepbound options, at the physician’s discretion and within the service’s state restrictions.
- A choice of a dedicated primary-care doctor with the option to see the same clinician over time, subject to appointment availability.
- Laboratory orders, specialist referrals and follow-up discussion when appropriate, with separate wellness-screening services and health-coaching resources described within primary care.
- Clinical care through MDLIVE Medical Group (DE), P.A., MDLIVE Medical Group, PA and related independent professional entities rather than a medicine sold directly by the technology platform.
How does MD Live work?
Check the specific benefit
Create or sign into your account and confirm that Primary Care and Routine Care are available through your health plan. MD Live says primary care is limited to select plans. Access to urgent care or another MD Live service does not establish access to the prescribing pathway for weight management.
Confirm state and appointment type
The primary-care page excludes anti-obesity medication in Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi and New Jersey. Choose Routine Care for a prescribing discussion. Wellness Screening and Urgent Care visits cannot provide these weight-management prescriptions, even though they are other services within the same account.
Discuss your full health history
Bring current medicines, recent results and previous weight-management treatment to the visit. The physician decides whether medication is appropriate and may recommend tests, another treatment or an in-person assessment. Ask which pharmacy will receive an approved prescription and whether your plan requires authorization.
Coordinate coverage and follow-up
Ask your pharmacy for the actual prescription charge and your clinician for the follow-up plan. Prescription benefits and visit benefits are separate questions. Keep the dedicated care relationship current and cancel appointments in advance if you cannot attend, rather than allowing a missed visit to disrupt a refill discussion.
How much does MD Live cost?
Branded Wegovy considered through eligible Primary Care Routine Care benefit; visit and pharmacy costs plan-dependent; ongoing month-to-month total not established.
Branded Zepbound considered through eligible Primary Care Routine Care benefit; visit and pharmacy costs plan-dependent; ongoing month-to-month total not established.
Company advertises benefit-dependent Routine Care; anti-obesity prescribing is unavailable in Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi and New Jersey.
MD Live advertises primary-care copays as low as $0 for participating plans, with your actual visit price shown in the account. Primary Care is available only through selected health insurance plans. Neither a $0 visit copay nor an eligible Routine Care appointment establishes a free prescription or an all-inclusive monthly semaglutide or tirzepatide price. Pharmacy benefits, deductibles and the chosen medication determine additional costs.
- Review the account’s exact visit charge before scheduling. A preventive-care benefit can differ from Routine Care, and a wellness screening does not provide weight-loss prescriptions. Do not choose solely on a generic low-copay statement.
- Ask your insurer separately about prescription eligibility, prior authorization and pharmacy participation. A physician’s clinical approval does not itself mean the health plan will pay for the medication. Obtain the expected out-of-pocket price before filling it.
- The primary-care FAQ publishes a $25 Routine Care cancellation fee when canceling within two hours of the appointment. Wellness visits have a separate $25 fee inside 24 hours. Confirm the policy displayed before booking.
- The published cancellation fees do not apply to Medicaid or Medicare members, and MD Live says an emergency can justify a waiver. Contact support if an unexpected situation prevents attendance instead of assuming a fee automatically disappears.
- An ongoing primary-care relationship may involve follow-up appointments and laboratory testing. Ask whether those services have copays or outside laboratory charges and whether medication review can be coordinated with other care you already need.
- This is not advertised as a fixed medication membership that can be compared by dividing a fee into calendar months. If your employer or plan changes, confirm continued Primary Care access and the cost of the prescription before the next refill is due.

What are MD Live's pros and cons?
Pros
- The service explicitly identifies the appointment type that can prescribe
- A dedicated primary-care doctor can support continuing health management
- State exclusions and appointment cancellation fees are published
- Visit pricing is shown before scheduling through the account
Cons
- Primary Care depends on a participating insurance plan
- Medication coverage and pharmacy costs remain separate from visit copays
- Several states are excluded from anti-obesity prescribing
- Booking the wrong service can leave the medication discussion outside that visit’s scope
The pharmacy behind the medicine
It does not name its pharmacy. MD Live does not publicly disclose which compounding pharmacy fills its prescriptions. That is common and it is not an accusation — but it does mean the one thing you would most want to verify about a compounded medicine is the one thing you cannot.
A compounded drug is mixed to order by a pharmacy rather than manufactured and released as a finished product, so the FDA has not reviewed the specific preparation you are prescribed for safety, effectiveness or quality. That is true of every compounded program, including the highest-scoring ones.
What else do people ask about MD Live?
Can MD Live prescribe Wegovy or Zepbound?
Yes, its official prescribing FAQ says these can be considered as part of a weight-management plan during Routine Care. The physician decides whether prescribing is appropriate. The service excludes anti-obesity prescribing in Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi and New Jersey, and it is not available during every type of MD Live appointment.
Can I use an Urgent Care visit for a GLP-1 prescription?
No. The specific prescribing FAQ limits weight-management GLP-1 and anti-obesity medication to Routine Care, excluding Urgent Care and Wellness Screening. Check the service name before booking. An account that includes urgent care alone may not include the primary-care benefit needed for that discussion.
Is medication included in a $0 copay visit?
A possible $0 visit copay describes the care benefit for participating plans. It does not establish a free drug or bundled prescription. Ask your insurer and pharmacy about the medication, dose, authorization and deductible separately, then compare the visit and prescription costs together.
Who is eligible for MD Live Primary Care?
It is available through selected health insurance plans rather than as a universal service for every account. Primary Care Wellness Screening and Routine Care are for adults 18 and older. The account shows available services and the visit charge, while medication eligibility remains a clinical and state-specific decision.
What is the Routine Care cancellation deadline?
The published FAQ says a $25 fee can apply when canceling within two hours of a Routine Care appointment. Wellness Screening uses a different 24-hour window. Fees are disclosed before booking, do not apply to Medicaid or Medicare members and may be waived for emergencies; contact support if circumstances change.
Can I keep the same doctor?
MD Live lets eligible Primary Care patients choose a dedicated physician and see that doctor for follow-up, with the option to change doctors. Confirm appointment availability and how prescriptions are reviewed between visits. Continuing with the same clinician does not guarantee a particular medication or pharmacy coverage.
