Price transparency

What is disclosed before intake, not a clinical rating.

TrimRx is a cash-pay online program that sells compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide through an outside network of licensed clinicians. Its homepage leads with "starting at $179" and "$259", but its own terms list the standing monthly price as $299 for semaglutide and $399 for tirzepatide, after a first month of $199 or $349. Each price covers the consultation, the medication, shipping and follow-up care.

The verdict

TrimRx shows its price before the medical intake and is clear about what that price covers and what conditions come with it. It ranks 13 of 65 among the programs we review on price transparency.

The score beside TrimRx's name rates how much it tells you before the medical intake — the price, the pharmacy and the terms — not how cheap it is.

  • Compounded semaglutide or compounded tirzepatide as a weekly injection, prepared by a state-licensed sterile compounding pharmacy
  • A free online assessment, then review by a U.S.-licensed clinician from a third-party medical group; some states require a short video or phone visit
  • One package price that covers the consultation, prescription, medication, shipping and ongoing medical support

  • Free tracked shipping, with medication sent monthly
  • Phone support seven days a week, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pacific, plus a patient portal for refills and messages

How does TrimRx work?

  1. Take the quiz

A free online health assessment that TrimRx says takes about two minutes. Plan choices and the lower bundle prices appear inside the quiz.

  2. Clinician review

A licensed clinician reviews your history. Depending on your state, that review may need a short telehealth call.

  3. Pharmacy prepares the order

Once the prescription is approved, a compounding pharmacy prepares it and usually ships within 48 business hours.

  4. Delivery

Shipping takes 3 to 5 business days. TrimRx puts approval to delivery at about 4 to 7 business days in total.

  5. Monthly refills

Medication ships every month. Refills, dose changes and questions go through the portal or the phone line.

TrimRx's terms list compounded semaglutide at $199 for the first month and $299 a month after that. Compounded tirzepatide is $349 for the first month and $399 a month after that. The homepage advertises "starting at $179" and "$259"; those figures sit behind the quiz, likely tied to multi-month plans, and the site doesn't say what they require.

  • Each monthly package includes the telehealth consultation, the prescription if appropriate, the medication, shipping and ongoing medical support.
  • TrimRx says your price holds steady as your dose goes up, and it pitches this to people switching from another program at their current dose.
  • No insurance is billed. TrimRx is a cash-pay program.
  • Prepaid multi-month plans can be canceled at any time, but you get the unused months back only if you ask for a refund within 28 days of paying.
  • If your medication hasn't shipped within 14 days of ordering, you can ask for a refund whatever the status of your review.
  • Its terms also list brand-name Ozempic at $1,299 and Zepbound at $1,399 a month, available on a limited basis. Elsewhere the site says branded prescriptions are filled at your own pharmacy at your own cost.
  • Compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide are not FDA-approved. The FDA doesn't review them for safety, effectiveness or quality.

What are TrimRx's pros and cons?

Pros

  • Consultation, medication, shipping and follow-up care sit in one monthly price
  • Price stays the same as your dose goes up
  • Full refund if a clinician decides you aren't a candidate
  • A refund if your order hasn't shipped within 14 days
  • Phone support seven days a week

Cons

  • The $179 and $259 headline prices aren't explained on the public site; the terms put month-to-month at $299 and $399
  • Bundle prices and plan lengths are shown only inside the quiz
  • The compounding pharmacy and the clinician network aren't named
  • Once a prescription goes to the pharmacy, that order can't be canceled or refunded
  • Unused months on a prepaid plan are refundable only if you ask within 28 days of paying

The pharmacy behind the medicine

It does not name its pharmacy. TrimRx does not publicly disclose which compounding pharmacy fills its prescriptions. That is common and it is not an accusation — but it does mean the one thing you would most want to verify about a compounded medicine is the one thing you cannot.

A compounded drug is mixed to order by a pharmacy rather than manufactured and released as a finished product, so the FDA has not reviewed the specific preparation you are prescribed for safety, effectiveness or quality. That is true of every compounded program, including the highest-scoring ones.

What else do people ask about TrimRx?

How much does TrimRx cost per month?

Its terms list compounded semaglutide at $199 for the first month and $299 a month after, and compounded tirzepatide at $349 then $399. The homepage advertises lower "starting at" prices of $179 and $259, which are shown inside the quiz.

Does the price go up when my dose increases?

No. TrimRx says your treatment cost stays the same as your dose changes.

Does TrimRx take insurance?

No. It's a cash-pay program. If a clinician prescribes a brand-name drug, you pay for it yourself.

How fast does the medication arrive?

Most patients get it within about 4 to 7 business days of approval. The pharmacy usually ships within 48 business hours, and delivery takes 3 to 5 business days after that.

How do I cancel, and can I get a refund?

Cancel through your account, chat or the phone line. You get a full refund if a clinician says you're not eligible, or if your medication hasn't shipped within 14 days. An order already sent to the pharmacy can't be canceled. Refund requests must come within 28 days of payment.

Is TrimRx medication FDA-approved?

The compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide are not FDA-approved. They're made in FDA-registered facilities, but the FDA hasn't reviewed the finished products for safety, effectiveness or quality.
