Ro review

Price transparency

What is disclosed before intake, not a clinical rating.

Ro Body is worth considering if you want brand-name weight-loss medication with help navigating insurance and ongoing care. Its current offering includes oral and injectable options. Budget for two charges: membership pays for the service, while medication is billed separately, and the lowest advertised membership rate requires annual prepayment.

The verdict

Ro shows a price before the medical intake, but the advertised figure comes with conditions the headline leaves out, or its own terms don't fully back it up. It ranks 51 of 65 on price transparency.

The score beside Ro's name rates how much it tells you before the medical intake — the price, the pharmacy and the terms — not how cheap it is.

What do you get with Ro?

  • An online medical assessment and a personalized treatment plan if eligible
  • Provider messaging, regular check-ins and support with side effects and dose adjustments
  • Coaching, weight tracking and dose logging
  • Insurance concierge support for eligible Wegovy pen, Zepbound autoinjector pen and Ozempic prescriptions

How does Ro work?

  1. Start online

Provide health information or use the free insurance checker before committing to care.

  2. Complete assessment

A Ro-affiliated clinician reviews eligibility and may order a blood test. A prescription is not guaranteed.

  3. Choose how to pay

Compare the prescribed drug, dose, insurance outcome and membership commitment. Some treatments are cash-pay only.

  4. Fill and follow up

Cash-pay prescriptions may ship through Ro or a partner pharmacy. Insurance prescriptions can go to your chosen pharmacy; continue check-ins as treatment progresses.

How much does Ro cost?

Membership starts at $39 for the first month, then costs $149 on the monthly plan. Prepaid options reduce its monthly equivalent to $99 for three months, $89 for six months or $74 for twelve months. These amounts exclude medication; the $74 headline is not a cancel-anytime monthly bill.

  • Wegovy pill medication starts at $149/month at the starting dose; higher doses cost more. The pill is cash-pay only through Ro.
  • Wegovy pen's $199 medication offer is limited to eligible new patients' first two months at 0.25 or 0.5 mg, with signup by December 31, 2026. The page lists $349 at 1–2.4 mg and $399 at 7.2 mg, before membership.
  • Zepbound KwikPen medication is listed at $299 for 2.5 mg and $399 for 5 mg; the $449 higher-dose figures rely on a manufacturer offer. Add membership and confirm eligibility and refill conditions.
  • Insurance may reduce the prescription charge, but does not cover the Ro Body membership fee.
  • Ro's prescription refund policy generally makes filled medication sales final. Review cancellation and prepayment terms before choosing a longer plan.

Who is Ro best for?

A good fit if

  • Patients who prefer an FDA-approved brand-name pathway
  • People who want help with insurance paperwork for an eligible injectable medication

Look elsewhere if

  • Anyone expecting medication to be included in the membership headline
  • People who want the annual membership rate without paying ahead
  • Patients who need immediate or emergency care rather than a scheduled telehealth service

What are Ro's pros and cons?

Pros

  • Current sales pages distinguish branded oral, injectable, insurance and cash-pay options
  • The free insurance checker can help establish coverage before enrollment
  • Membership includes follow-up, messaging and coaching rather than just an initial prescription
  • Patients can use a preferred pharmacy, though outside-network prices can differ

Cons

  • The ongoing monthly membership alone is $149 before the prescription cost
  • Lower membership equivalents require multi-month prepayment
  • Promotional starter doses and manufacturer eligibility can make later bills higher
  • Government-insurance and treatment eligibility restrictions require individual review

The pharmacy behind the medicine

It does not name its pharmacy. Ro does not publicly disclose which compounding pharmacy fills its prescriptions. That is common and it is not an accusation — but it does mean the one thing you would most want to verify about a compounded medicine is the one thing you cannot.

A compounded drug is mixed to order by a pharmacy rather than manufactured and released as a finished product, so the FDA has not reviewed the specific preparation you are prescribed for safety, effectiveness or quality. That is true of every compounded program, including the highest-scoring ones.

What else do people ask about Ro?

Does the $39 introductory charge include medication?

No. It is the first-month membership price. Medication is a separate charge after clinical approval, based on the prescription, dose and payment route.

What is the difference between the Wegovy pill and pen?

Both contain semaglutide. Ro describes the pill as taken daily by mouth and the pen as a weekly injection. The pill is cash-pay only through Ro, while the pen may be purchased with insurance or cash. Your clinician should help choose a suitable formulation.

Will insurance cover my treatment?

Coverage is not guaranteed. Ro offers concierge support for Wegovy pen, Zepbound autoinjector pen and Ozempic; other listed treatments can be cash-pay only. Membership is not covered. If coverage is denied, you can discuss another option or cancel.

Is Ro available nationwide?

Ro says its platform serves all 50 states and Washington, DC, with individual services and treatments subject to location restrictions. Eligibility also depends on your medical history and insurance situation.

Is provider messaging an around-the-clock medical service?

No. You can send a message online, but the Body program terms describe weekday clinical operating hours and responses within 48 hours or sooner during those hours. It is not emergency or on-call care.

Is this a compounded medication program?

The current Ro Body sales pages emphasize FDA-approved brand-name treatments. Do not assume older descriptions of compounded semaglutide represent the product currently offered to you.
