LifeMD review

Price transparency

What is disclosed before intake, not a clinical rating.

LifeMD offers weight management within a broader virtual-care platform, combining prescribing, follow-up, lab coordination and insurance assistance. It is a useful option for people considering branded GLP-1s or a clinician-guided oral alternative. Its different memberships need a careful look: the inexpensive LifeMD+ plan alone does not include the specialty weight-loss program or its medication.

The verdict

LifeMD shows a price before the medical intake, but the advertised figure comes with conditions the headline leaves out, or its own terms don't fully back it up. It ranks 49 of 65 on price transparency.

The score beside LifeMD's name rates how much it tells you before the medical intake — the price, the pharmacy and the terms — not how cheap it is.

What do you get with LifeMD?

  • An online health questionnaire followed by clinical review and a treatment plan if suitable
  • Follow-up care, prescription management and help understanding medication coverage
  • Access to branded semaglutide and tirzepatide options when prescribed; current pages include Wegovy pill and injections and Zepbound formulations
  • An oral Triple Therapy option combining metformin, bupropion and topiramate when clinically appropriate; this is not a GLP-1 medicine
  • Lab coordination, with eligible specialty-program testing included at Quest or Labcorp except for state-specific billing restrictions

How does LifeMD work?

  1. Choose specialty care

Select weight management rather than assuming general LifeMD+ membership covers it.

  2. Share your history

Complete the health questionnaire and clinical consultation. Your provider decides whether labs or treatment are appropriate.

  3. Clarify coverage and cost

Compare the care fee, prescription charge and insurance outcome before agreeing to a medication or longer membership commitment.

  4. Fill and follow up

A branded prescription may go to your local pharmacy or a delivery option. Continue provider check-ins and any requested monitoring.

How much does LifeMD cost?

Semaglutide

Brand-name Wegovy pill from $149 or pen from $199 medication initially; care $39 first month then $149/mo under the public monthly offer, or annual-plan care from $75/mo; dose and eligibility affect total

Tirzepatide

Brand-name Zepbound vial medication from $299 initially; care $39 first month then $149/mo under the public monthly offer, or annual-plan care from $75/mo; dose and eligibility affect total

The weight-management page advertises $39 for the first month of care, followed by a $149 monthly program and provider fee, before medication. The general FAQ separately lists a weight-management annual plan from $75/month. Neither should be confused with the $19 LifeMD+ general-care membership.

  • The public care offer lists initial medication prices from $149 for Wegovy pill, $199 for Wegovy pen and $299 for Zepbound vials. Dose, eligibility, offer terms and insurance change the bill.
  • The $75 monthly figure is associated with an annual plan. Confirm the amount charged upfront, renewal frequency and cancellation effect at checkout.
  • GLP-1 medication is separate unless your purchase explicitly says it is included. The membership page describes Triple Therapy as included in its program.
  • Patients in New York, New Jersey and Rhode Island, or their insurers, are billed directly for lab services that LifeMD cannot cover under its stated state restrictions.
  • Previously incurred membership fees are generally nonrefundable. The advertised weight-loss guarantee has a full year of participation and other requirements, and any eligible refund can exclude incurred program costs.

Who is LifeMD best for?

A good fit if

  • People who want weight management connected with a broader virtual-care service
  • Patients exploring branded medication with insurance-navigation help
  • People who want to discuss non-GLP-1 oral options with a clinician

Look elsewhere if

  • Anyone expecting the $19 general membership to cover a GLP-1 prescription and weight-loss care
  • Shoppers who need a guaranteed total at every dose before clinical assessment
  • People treating a conditional weight-loss guarantee as a refundable medication trial

What are LifeMD's pros and cons?

Pros

  • Branded medication and a separate oral treatment pathway offer different conversations with the provider
  • The program coordinates lab work and continuing clinical care
  • Prescriptions for branded medicines can often be sent to a preferred pharmacy

Cons

  • General membership, specialty care and medication have different prices and inclusions
  • Annual-plan equivalents and introductory offers require attention to the actual commitment
  • Insurance acceptance and coverage vary by state, service and plan
  • The money-back guarantee requires twelve continuous months and substantial eligibility conditions

The pharmacy behind the medicine

It does not name its pharmacy. LifeMD does not publicly disclose which compounding pharmacy fills its prescriptions. That is common and it is not an accusation — but it does mean the one thing you would most want to verify about a compounded medicine is the one thing you cannot.

A compounded drug is mixed to order by a pharmacy rather than manufactured and released as a finished product, so the FDA has not reviewed the specific preparation you are prescribed for safety, effectiveness or quality. That is true of every compounded program, including the highest-scoring ones.

What else do people ask about LifeMD?

Is LifeMD+ the weight-loss program?

No. It is the general primary- and urgent-care membership. Specialty weight management requires separate eligibility and pricing. The public FAQ says LifeMD+ benefits are included with a qualifying specialty program, while joining LifeMD+ alone does not automatically enroll you in specialty care.

Does LifeMD offer a pill instead of injections?

Current pages include the branded Wegovy semaglutide pill. They also describe Triple Therapy, a separate oral combination of metformin, bupropion and topiramate. These are different treatments, and the provider must assess which, if any, is appropriate.

Are labs included?

Eligible testing requested for specialty care is included when completed at Quest or Labcorp, with exceptions. LifeMD says it cannot cover lab service costs in New York, New Jersey or Rhode Island. Other testing and at-home options can have separate charges.

What happens if insurance denies my prescription?

You can discuss a cash-pay option or cancel the program. The support policy says previously incurred membership fees are not refunded simply because medication coverage is denied. Ask about coverage for the exact drug and your particular service before enrolling.

How does the money-back guarantee work?

It is conditional, not an unconditional refund promise. The policy requires twelve continuous months, eligible self-pay enrollment, following recommendations, completing visits and labs, and regular weight logging. A request is due within 30 days of the anniversary; any refund may deduct program costs.

Can I cancel online?

LifeMD describes a cancel or pause option in the patient portal. Its terms say care continues through the paid commitment period. Cancellation does not by itself refund past charges or filled prescription medication.
